Rebecca McCarthy joined Asser Law Group, PC in April 2008. In her current position as Associate Attorney she focuses on all aspects of immigration law, including the very complicated area of removal defense and asylum law. Rebecca is admitted to the State Bar of Arizona, United States District Court, District of Arizona and United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. Additionally, Rebecca has successfully litigated before the Board of Immigration Appeals.
Prior to joining Asser Law Group, PC, Rebecca was a member of the Managing Attorney’s Office at Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison LLP in New York City where she received a strong procedural foundation. There, she monitored pending litigation firm wide and, coordinated service and filings in various State and Federal courts as well as administrative agencies ensuring that filings were procedurally accurate. In this position she supervised a team of law clerks providing specific instructions with regard to filings, their progress and schedules.
Rebecca graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Connecticut in 2000, with a B.S. in Family Studies, and received her J.D. from New York Law School in 2005.
Prior to attending the University of Connecticut Rebecca travelled throughout the southeastern portion of the United States as an AmeriCorps NCCC corpsmember. In a 10-month period of time Rebecca completed over 1700 hours of community service by planting trees in wetland areas, tutoring students in city schools, documenting erosion caused by flooding, sorting clothes in thrift stores, building houses with Habitat for Humanity and working closely with various community organizations across the region.
